An Evening with Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton ... etc

This is what Pattie Boyd looked like when she first met George Harrison on the set of A Hard Day's Night

A Hard Day's Night (1963)

Later on she found some colour and ditched the school uniform and started looking like this

After Brian Epstein gave his permission for George and Pattie to get married they did so and it was fun for a while but eventually she left him for his friend Eric Clapton whom she also married ....

When I met her face to face in person for the first time last week she looked like this

and this is her answering me after I asked her if she interacted much with George Martin ....

and just after she finished signing the book she was promoting

and the front page of the book she signed for me

She seemed like a really nice down to earth person who was an incredibly beautiful shy young girl who turned into a still incredibly beautiful and shy woman.

The event took place at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Circular Quay , Sydney.

A friend of mine thought it was a bit like something from a Hitchcock film when she saw the pictures I took

but to me it was more like the hotel in Mel Brooks' High Anxiety

except for this corridor which reminded me a bit of Kubrick's The Shining

I arrived a bit too early and had time to look around and take lots of photos whilst feeling like a secret agent in my hat and glasses. Maybe one of the Spy vs. Spys from Mad Magazine or if you prefer Darren McGavin in Kolchack the Night Stalker ...

It was a very nice night even if I did overindulge a bit on champagne, white wine, orange juice and canapes before the formal start of the evening.

This girl reminds me a bit of an actress I've seen in Parks and Recreation.

We were all ushered inside and sat around in tables of about 8 people with more elaborate food available alongside our complimentary copies of her book.

We were at Table 10

Models had to wear some very silly hats back in the sixties

and do some very strange poses

When this image was projected up on the screen some wag in the audience screamed out in rhyming slang "Ginger Meggs"

It's a bit hard to tell but this is behind the scenes from the shooting of Harry Nilsson's Son of Dracula film ....

As a rock star muse she has proven to be the inspiration of not just one or two but at least 3 and possible more iconic songs ....

This last song is also the title of her book .....

To conclude here's one of my favourite George solo songs with some nice images of the two of them together ....

PS: She was asked if she remembered the only line she had to say in A Hard Day's Night and she still did. Here's a clip of her first scene ...
